To meet our ambitions to use four times more recyclate in our products, it is crucial we secure a really consistent supply of high-quality plastic that we can reprocess and re-use.

In Australia, Vinidex has teamed up with the recycling group, Delta Plastics, in a great circular economy project, reaching out to construction companies to encourage them to recycle anything from pipes, to dustbins and car bumper bars.

One leading plumbers’ merchant has now put collection bins at its stores, encouraging customers to recycle with us rather than send discarded plastic to landfill. Vinidex has a target to recycle 20 tonnes of PVC a week.

RX Plastics in New Zealand is on a similar path. Working with the water engineering consultancy, SWE, it is piloting a project to recycle both PVC and polyethylene pipes and fittings. Trials suggest that, by closing the loop in this way, waste to landfill can be cut by 99%!
