The Challenge awards startups and innovators working on providing solutions that help fix problems of water wastage via artificial intelligence (AI) and robots.

At the award ceremony on Monday September 18th in New Delhi, grand prize winner SmartTerra and runner-up Solinas Integrity, won the awards for their innovations that find and help fix water leaks and water contamination.

SmartTerra’s platform uses AI to detect leaks and is already used in five states in India, helping to save over five million liters of water per month. Similarly, Solinas Integrity’s robots have identified over 40 contamination points, already saving 600,000 liters of water per day.

Launched in February 2022, in partnership with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, the aim of the The/Nudge Ashirvad Water Challenge is to boost solutions that address, at scale, the difficulties there are in accessing clean drinking water in India.

Aliaxis’ Indian subsidiary Ashirvad, has supported this project financially and in providing infrastructure and access to our brains trust.

Over 140 applicants competed with their game changing solutions to India’s water security crisis.

The seven finalists in the competition spent six months developing their projects in an incubator where they were given access to material by using the state-of-the-art research and development hub and mentors by having sessions with the Aliaxis Next experts.

The aim of the Challenge is to improve water security at scale and serve 19 million households.
