We’re extending our manufacturing footprint in India, to serve customers more effectively right across the country bringing them the water and clean energy solutions they need at greater speed.

The expansion programme was given a significant boost in April 2023 when we held the groundbreaking Bhoomi Pooja ceremony to celebrate the start of construction at our new Chandanvelly plant, near Hyderabad in Telangana State in southeast India.

We have not previously had a manufacturing plant serving this region and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh despite this being our single largest market in India, accounting for 11% of our sales.

So, the development will help further cement relations with our customers there who have played a pivotal role in our success story to date, helping us take leading positions in the market segments we serve – namely industry, infrastructure, and agriculture.

The state-of-the-art plant, built on a 10-hectare site, will be equipped with cutting-edge Industry 4.0 systems and technologies to increase efficiency and safety. It puts us in the heart of a high-tech manufacturing hub where other companies are also building new facilities, including Microsoft and Airtel.

This €48 million investment will further strengthen our ability to serve customers in the region, allowing us to produce CPVC, OPVC and UPVC pipes in the extrusion section from April 2025 and fittings in a new injection moulding section from the following September.

Operational excellence will be achieved thanks to automated systems to move raw material about the plant, ensuring better flow and greater safety, and the use of IT-OT technology to measure, monitor and analyse data throughout the operation.

It will also underline our commitment to sustainable manufacturing processes, equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, rooftop solar panels, electric material handling equipment and air pollution controls, amongst other features.
