Aliaxis New Zealand has reached 100% renewable electricity. This is just the start: 100% renewable electricity in our sites is a key enabler to reach our global target of reducing CO2 emissions by 75% per tonne of production by 2025.
To achieve this goal, Aliaxis New Zealand joined Meridian Energy’s Certified Renewable Energy programme. Meridian is New Zealand’s largest renewable energy generator and is committed to only producing electricity from 100% renewable sources – wind, water and sun. The majority share of Meridian is owned by the New Zealand government, and the company is a key actor in supporting the country’s target of 90% of electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
Our collaboration with Meridian allows us to purchase renewable energy certificates for the full amount of electricity we use from the grid. This amount is matched with green electricity produced from Meridian’s certified hydro stations and wind farms on an annual basis. Operating with 100% renewable electricity, Aliaxis New Zealand is now fully compliant with RE100 and the Greenhouse gas (GHG) Protocol standard for corporates carbon accounting.
In doing so, Aliaxis New Zealand is paving the way for Aliaxis to operate with 100% renewable electricity globally.
