With up to 80% of wastewater around the world released into waterways without adequate treatment, the need for sustainable water management solutions has never been greater. Aliaxis’ existing range of premium water management solutions is already supporting the shift toward a more sustainable world.

Sustainable water management is foundational to Aliaxis’ vision and mission. Moreover, our commitment to innovation in this area has helped position Aliaxis as a global leader delivering solutions that make a measurable difference for customers and the environment.

Aliaxis’ sustainable water management offer also aligns and contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. While our solutions support several of the 17 SDGs, Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation – is where Aliaxis want to have the most impact. Goal 6 aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

An example of how our solutions can significantly cut down on the amount of untreated wastewater entering our waterways can be found in Costa Rica, where we supplied a wastewater treatment plant for a customer’s industrial compound.

The 140 m3/day plant treats domestic wastewater using Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology with automated dehydration management for excess sludge. It treats more than 50 million litres of water annually, ensuring that it’s clean and doesn’t pollute waterways. The treated water is then reused for irrigation on the compound’s property. This way the project not only brings savings to the customer, but it also improves water quality and reduces water consumption.

Beyond offering practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges, Aliaxis’ water management systems can also respond to the growing number of regulations and policies being developed around the globe to target water usage and address shortages. Moreover, these types of systems can bring significant added value to residential and commercial building owners looking to make the shift towards more sustainable operations.

As humanity faces a looming water crisis and the gap between water supply and demand set to widen in the next decade, SDG 6 can influence how we can manage and ultimately reverse these realities. As a leader in sustainable water management, Aliaxis has the knowhow and products to support this shared goal and ensure water is reused again and again.
