Brussels – December 10, 2021 – Aliaxis SA, global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of advanced piping systems, today announced that Olivier van der Rest has decided to step down as Chairman of the Board. Thierry Vanlancker has been appointed by the Board to succeed Olivier van der Rest as Chairman of Aliaxis. This change will become effective on May 24, 2022.
Mr. Olivier van der Rest served as Director of Aliaxis since its creation in 2003 and also as Chairman of the Board during the last 12 years.
Considering good governance practices and the length of his mandate, Mr. van der Rest has decided to step down to facilitate a renewal of the Chairmanship. His decision will be effective at the next Annual General Meeting and is announced today to enable a structured and effective transition.
Mr. van der Rest said: “It has been an honour to serve as Chairman of Aliaxis and I am very confident with both the growth trajectory of the group and the strength of the management team in place. I look forward to seeing Aliaxis growth journey under Thierry Vanlancker as Chairman.”
A Belgian citizen, Mr. Thierry Vanlancker has served on the Aliaxis Board since 2020 and is currently a member of the Board’s Audit Committee. Mr. Vanlancker has a significant business experience. He is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Management of AkzoNobel, where he has been working since 2016. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Sika and ETEX. Prior to working for AkzoNobel, he worked for DuPont from 1998 to 2015, holding several senior positions both in Europe and the USA, the most recent being President Fluoroproducts for Chemours, the spin-off company of DuPont’s chemical businesses.
