Aliaxis acquires Zypho, a start-up at the forefront of drain water heat recovery solutions

Aliaxis SA, a world leader enabling access to water and energy through smart fluid management solutions, announced today the acquisition of Zypho, a Portuguese tech company that has been at the forefront of drain water heat recovery solutions in buildings for over a decade. The solutions brought by Zypho focus on lowering carbon emissions while cutting energy bills, which perfectly aligns with Aliaxis’ commitment to sustainability and water preservation.

Founded in 2009, Zypho has become the fastest-growing actor in innovative drain water heat recovery products in the EMEA region. Their shower drain heat recovery systems, which transfers the heat from the hot shower water to the incoming cold water, can recycle up to 75% of the energy used to heat the shower water. The system preheats cold water as it moves towards the mixer tap, reusing the heat from the warm drain water that would normally go to sewage network. It’s a passive system using gravitation, without the need for additional energy, and safe thanks to a double layer protection preventing any water contamination.
Aliaxis in France and Zypho have collaborated fruitfully since 2020. This collaboration has led to new and more innovative products brought to the French market, such as the horizontal heat recovery unit by Aliaxis in September 2022.

This acquisition will enable Aliaxis to use its global presence and experience in fluid management solutions to further expand the reach of Zypho’s products. In addition, Aliaxis will benefit from Zypho’s expertise on innovative drain water heat recovery solutions, collaborating on the development of new and more advanced products that will further improve its offering in sustainable solutions for the building segment.

The financial details of this agreement will not be disclosed.
