Our commitment to care value has been in the spotlight since the onset of the pandemic. I think that promoting and living this value is a great way to support one another as well as the communities in which we live and work. We have engaged in a variety of on-going initiatives across Aliaxis Italy to do just that, and we’re all very proud to be making a difference.

One such initiative is our Give a Hand program, which we launched across the country at the end of March. The campaign encourages employees to submit proposals to sponsor small local projects (€500-2,000) that revolve around community or sustainability actions. The most recent of these actions took place toward the end of September when we partnered with the Municipality of Piombino and the Italian Paralympic Committee to sponsor an event celebrating sport, diversity and inclusion.

The event invited children to spend the day learning about and experiencing the Paralympic Games. Participants had the opportunity to meet Paralympic athletes, listen to their stories and have some fun playing together. In a year that has been filled with difficulties for so many people around the world, it was both rewarding and moving to witness the energy and commitment of an event celebrating togetherness.

The best part for me was hearing all the positive feedback about the event from children and teachers, and hearing how kids went back home to tell their families how they had a great time while gaining awareness about the value of inclusion. A little goes a long way with these types of initiatives, and we like to think that our Give a Hand campaign is helping to make the world a better place with each gesture and initiative.
