Replacing ageing metal gas pipes in London

Around 2,800 km of legacy metallic gas pipes in central London needed replacing, to better serve the growing population. While our GPS polyethylene (PE) Yellow pipes were suitable, the existing pipes approved for use in the UK gas industry were too small in diameter. We manufactured, tested, accredited and delivered a new 800 mm pipe, and trained more than 50 installers to insert them into the existing pipe structure for a cost-effective transformation.

Cutting carbon emissions with innovative heat recovery system

We worked with the Accor Group on a trial of our Zypho brand’s drain water heat recovery technology in two of its hotels. The Zypho system captures the outgoing hot wastewater from a shower and uses it to heat the incoming cold water, recycling up to 75% of the energy needed to produce hot water in the process. That means lower energy bills, a cut in carbon emissions, and a response to the French government’s directive for the hospitality sector to cut energy use and adopt eco-friendly practices.

Transforming an irrigation system in Spain

A system irrigating rice, corn and cereal crops in the Santa Cruz de Alcolea de Cinca region of Spain was regularly losing water through evaporation and leaks. We modernised it by installing 195 km of efficient polyethylene pipes, carrying an estimated 29 million cubic metres of water in a continuous flow. That’s equivalent to 8,500 Olympic swimming pools.
