Transforming an irrigation system in Spain

A system irrigating rice, corn and cereal crops in the Santa Cruz de Alcolea de Cinca region of Spain was regularly losing water through evaporation and leaks. Tackling water scarcity in Guatemala

We provided a 400-hectare banana farm in Guatemala with a low-pressure irrigation system. It saves 40% of energy, and 80% of water compared to traditional gravity-flow irrigation – or 20% versus traditional sprinkler systems. Irrigating 20 million litres of water daily means annual savings of around 30 billion litres or two billion litres respectively.

Gathering data to optimise soil conditions

We’ve recently installed our first set of CropX sensors in India, collecting data on real-time soil conditions such as temperature, humidity and electrical conductivity. This is used to generate recommendations so farmers can understand what a crop needs to stay strong and healthy – and it can be installed in less than five minutes.
